Heaven's in Shkodër: albania

While travelling through Albania, we came across Heaven's Gate Second Hand Clothes Market in Shkodër. The market is tucked away on Rruga Andon Ballaci and, when we visited (july 2026), it felt surprisingly quiet. a few vendors sitting amongst racks and piles of second-hand clothing, waiting for people to come and dig.

There were so many clothes. I was filling bags with pieces and still spending around $10 AUD. The quality was great and everything felt so clean and well looked after.

There seemed to be a real mix of styles, but while I was there everyone was searching for the same things, 2000s boardies were having a moment.

the sheer amount of clothing already there was crazy. Walking through the market made me think about how much we continue to produce new clothing when there are already so many wearable pieces sitting in places like this.

The vendors were relaxed and happy to let you take your time looking through everything. It felt less like shopping and more like digging for treasure.

I've been to many second-hand markets in Australia, but honestly, nothing I've found compares to Heaven's Gate.
